The North East Ambulance Service is one of the region’s biggest employers, with over 3,500 employees working in 53 locations across the North East.
We serve a population of 2.7 million people, handling 999 and 111 calls, operating patient transport and ambulance response services, delivering training for communities and businesses, and providing medical support cover at events.
Our staff are at the very heart of our service, and they are immensely valued by both the Trust and the communities they serve. By helping us to provide safe, effective and responsive care for all, every staff member makes a positive difference to people’s lives across the North East every day.
A valued workforce
As an ambulance service, caring for people is what we do, and that applies to our employees and volunteers as much as it does to our patients. Whatever part of the service you work in, whether on the frontline or in an administrative role, supporting staff wellbeing and ensuring job satisfaction is a priority for us.
An inclusive organisation
We’re committed to providing equal opportunity for all, and we actively promote equality and social inclusion across the Trust. We value and respect the diversity of our employees and volunteers and aim to recruit a workforce that represents the communities we serve.
We have extensive LGBTQ+, BAME, Disability and Women’s staff networks. We’re also an ENEI Gold employer, Disability Confident Leader, Dyslexia Smart Award employer, Dementia Friendly, and part of Mind Blue Light programme and the Race at Work Charter from the Prince’s Responsible Business Network.
Working for us
A career in the ambulance service is exciting, challenging and extremely rewarding. It gives you the opportunity to achieve your potential and make a real difference to people’s lives.
The work we do isn’t always easy, but the satisfaction you get from helping people in your local communities can be huge.
We value every member of staff and strive to provide the very best staff offers and benefits.
